The following feedback is from currently accredited operators who found the process of achieving tourism accreditation a real benefit to their business.
'I found the application process to be of benefit to our business as it does involve looking at your business from another perspective and gives ideas for improvement in the day-to-day running as well as the services provided to guests.'
Rita Bromfield, Country Carriage Bed & Breakfast, NSW
'I would like to say that becoming accredited was much more involved than I expected, but I found it a great tool to once again develop our business. The examples and templates were extremely helpful and I would recommend that anyone interested in going through the process use it as a business planning and development tool. It is something that I could use as a yearly planner for continuous improvement!
Very impressed with the whole process.'
Kate Honnef, Restaurant Manager /Owner, Oceanview Estates Winery & Restaurant Pty Ltd, Queensland
'Thank you for arranging for Luna Park to complete the Australian Tourism Accreditation Program. This was an enlightening process and I can highly recommend it to businesses of any size.
Being able to complete the application on-line was convenient and straight forward. The templates and additional information provided on-line were very useful. The on-line process allowed you to work on the application at any time of day from any location. Being able to attach existing documents to the on-line application made the process quick and simple. The application criteria was very reasonable and did not call for anything beyond the realms of what an average business should be doing.
As an established business we had most of the documents, policies and procedures in place however going through the accreditation process allowed us to review all of these practices and has given us a great resource for our business.
We are very pleased to have gone through this process and believe that the journey in itself is worthwhile. We will proudly display this certificate and logo throughout our marketing material, website and park signage and look forward to reviewing this application annually and continually expanding and improving our business practices.'
Barbara Murphy, Sales and Marketing Manager, Luna Park, Victoria
‘Going through the Tourism Accreditation Program has been an excellent way to check if our business processes are up to date and effective. We felt that we now know that we are operating in a manner that is proven to be best practice for a tourism operator. The process forced us to look at all aspects of our operations and administration and we now have the ongoing benefit of fully documented administrative and operational procedures and training programs.’
Karen Rees, Deputy Director, Premier Travel Tasmania Pty Ltd
“Acting as a consultant for the mainland proprietors of Seaview Retreat on Bruny Island residential accommodation who were seeking accreditation by the Tourism Industry Council of Tasmania, I found the accreditation process quite straightforward. Coincidentally, being an accredited environmental auditor, I found the guidance templates for applicants to be comprehensive but quite easy to follow. More importantly, these templates provided Seaview Retreat with a better understanding of the marketing strategy and pricing policy needed to ensure it is a commercial success, and also to determine what advertising materials should be prepared. In addition, the procedures developed for operating the Retreat will be an ongoing help to the Property Manager who manages this beautiful Adventure Bay accommodation.”
Barry La Fontaine, Lead Auditor EMS (Quality Society of Australia)
"More of our guests have specified the Accreditation Tick as influencing their decision to choose us than any other factor - such as rating programs and industry memberships."
Tony, Brooklands Heritage B&B, South Australia
“I feel the accreditation process is very important to maintaining a strong and active business. The review is great for taking a good look at what and how the business is going and a good chance to reflect on possible changes that have either taken place or should take place."
Robyn, Chaff Mill Village, South Australia
"The accreditation process was a collaborative effort between different departments and allowed us to focus on a single mission - to provide quality products and exceptional customer service to all visitors."
Palandri Cellar Store Café, Western Australia
"The importance of accreditation to organisations in the tourism industry cannot be overstated. The accreditation process, in fact, reinforced many of the strategies we already employed in producing a quality training product. It was also useful as a continuous improvement model in many areas, including customer service and risk management. As a result, we would encourage others to work systematically through the process, and to seek advice from organisations with accreditation."
